THE REYKJAVIK REFUGEE

The Reykjavik Refugee is a typographic publication exploring the fishing heritage of Grimsby, told through the personal story of skipper Bernard “Bunny” Newton — from his early days at sea to his eventual downfall.

Designed in a newspaper format, the piece uses expressive typographic treatments & archival imagery to echo the grit & legacy of the industry. It was submitted to the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) as part of the 2023 Student Assessment Scheme, where it was
awarded membership.
